Bari mayor Vito Leccese responded to criticism from SSC Bari president Luigi De Laurentiis over the management of San Nicola stadium. 'I haven't signed anything for the concession' Leccese said. 'I haven't fixed any meetings and I don't have any formal requests in this regard' he added. The mayor explained that, at the expiration of the five-year concession on May 31, procedures for releasing the facility have been initiated, defined as 'a complex structure that requires articulated operations'. On an administrative level, Leccese recalled that the municipality is operating 'in accordance with the rules and the mandate received from the City Council', which provides for three possible modalities of public property management: direct management, in-house or concession to third parties. 'I cannot be influenced by the emotions related to the relegation – he added – but I must act as a public administrator and ensure the respect of the rules'. Criticisms of the tone used towards the administration in correspondence with President De Laurentiis were not lacking, defined by the mayor as 'unacceptable', in reference to the relationship between the society and the city. Leccese finally confirmed that in the coming days, municipal offices will conduct inspections at San Nicola stadium to verify the conditions of the facility and plan the subsequent phases of management. Questions related to the use of the structure for events and concerts, defined as 'legally and economically complex', remain open.
